Overview
Mild steel remains the right answer for plenty of storage duties — non-potable water, industrial process service, large volumes where stainless is hard to justify.
What makes it work is the treatment: surface preparation, internal coating where required, and an external finish that survives the environment it sits in. We build MS tanks with that treatment specified rather than assumed.

Common questions
Generally not without qualified internal treatment. For potable duty we would normally point you to stainless, and we will say so.
It depends almost entirely on the internal and external treatment and the environment. Tell us the site conditions and we will recommend the specification.
Galvanised for general outdoor exposure, coated where the medium needs a specific internal barrier.
Yes, insulated and clad the same way as stainless tanks.
